Basic Principles of Eban Centre for Human Trafficking Studies
Eban Centre for Human Trafficking Studies (ECHTS), is born out of love and respect for all human beings. Recognizing the fact that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Thus it is the paramount duty of EbanGh to see that all humans are free and live freely without cohesion.

At Eban, we seek to work and understand all aspects of Human Trafficking – its reach, its pluri-form dimensions, the mechanisms which drive its development, the market forces it leverages, the socio-economic conditions at countries of source it exploits, as well as examining the various responses of law enforcement agencies and international political and societal responses emerging from the third sector, inter-governmental agencies and the media.

Staff at Eban has extent research background into transnational organized crime, conflict and conflict resolution and International Relations. Thus, our work is characterized by excellence, objectivity, free and fairness. At Eban we seek to bring the understanding of human trafficking to the doorstep of people. We are concerned at applying research that would bring to bear on the complex challenges of Human Trafficking as it emerges as one of the great human rights violations across the globe.

The Centre for Human Trafficking Studies has over the years published Research Works, Reports, Briefings, Symposia and Training Events aimed at raising awareness on human trafficking and imparting knowledge. We aspire to be a Centre of innovative minds and experienced practitioners in Human Trafficking and are focused on making sure that freedom is the birth right of every human being

Eban Centre for Human Trafficking Studies, ECHTS, is a think tank which shares a deep concern for children, women and men whose rights have been violated by the criminal practice of human trafficking. EbanGh is committed to work for changes in economic, social, political and legal systems which contribute to the persistence of trafficking in persons and other transnational organised crimes in the context of migratory movements for diverse purposes, including security of labour and livelihood. In particular, Eban addresses issues arising from the trafficking in persons as defined in the Palermo Protocol. Within this framework, Eban addresses the core aspects of trafficking in persons: forced labour and services in all sectors of the formal and informal economy as well as the public and private organization of work particularly, Witness and victim protection rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficked victims.

Eban applies a Human Rights, Socio-economic and a Psychosocial based Approach to address trafficking issues, which means:
• Centering the human rights of trafficked persons and those in vulnerable situations, in all anti-trafficking activities
• Acknowledging the equality of all persons to exercise, defend and promote their inherent, universal and indivisible human rights
• Non-discrimination on any grounds, including – singly or in combination - race, ethnicity, descent, sexual orientation or gender identity, religion, gender, age, migrant status, national or social origin, birth or other status, or occupation (including work in the informal sectors such as domestic work, sex work, etc.)
• Primacy of the principles of accountability, participation and inclusivity/ non-discrimination in working methodologies, and organizational structures and procedures. In this respect, self-representation and organization of those directly affected by trafficking are strongly encouraged and supported.

Eban supports the sharing knowledge, working experiences and working methodologies amongst its members, in order to enhance the effectiveness of collective anti-trafficking activities.

Eban welcomes co-operation with organizations, persons and agencies who share its principles.

EbanGh is political, but non-partisan. This means that while we certainly engage in political discourse, and seek to effect change at Governmental, legislative and public authority levels, we are not aligned with the principles or beliefs and owe no allegiance, duty or obligation to any political party, organization or individual. We may operate in the political space, but we are – and always will remain – fiercely independent.
